Bitter? Who's bitter? I am just old enough to have really cared what happened in 1978.

"The Red Sox managed to lose a 14 game July lead to the Yankees in 1978 before losing the pennant in a winner-take all tie-breaker decided on a Bucky Dent homer at Fenway Park. This isn't known so much as a collapse as a great pennant race as it was actually the Red Sox who needed to end the season on an 8-0 run to overcome a 3 1/2 game deficit and force the tiebreaker."

Been there, done that.

As Herr Moose pointed out, Boston won the WS twice in the past decade, so Red Sox fans have no right to "go all emo" as he rightly put it.

It's the Cubs who need a break.

Did we have air travel when the Cubs last won the World Series?

The Wright Bros, flew in 1903, and the Cubs last won in 1908, so yes.

Still, it's pretty sad that there's probably no one still alive who could honestly claim to remember that.

I hope baseball is still going on when the heat-death of the universe occurs, trillions of years from now, and the Cubs never have won in all of that time.

What's funny is that I don't hate the Cubs. I just like them being so amazingly hapless.

and even then, after the cubs treated poor steve bartman, they can go and lose.

And Baked is right!

(It was cool hier when the (white) sox won. great personality on that team)
