Conflicted...

I recently learned that Alex Rodriguez is being investigated for allegedly setting up high stakes poker games.

I have to admit I'm conflicted. One the one hand, even if he did this, he hurt no one, and clearly these were adults who could make their own choices. Making this sort of thing illegal is simply idiotic. No one was hurt, or forced to do anything against their will. There is simply no reason for this idiotic investigation, or prosecution (if it comes to that.)

On the other hand, Rodriguez plays for the Yankees.

Decisions, Decisions...

True but for the one fact that he was forbidden by his contract giver from playing in such games.

As such, he should be obligated to not participate in these games.

MLB is more worried about gambling also. Pete Rose is the reason.

The conflict is a nonissue then. He has to follow what is in his contract very much like acters and football and basket ball players can not engage in some activities.

Fair enough. I have no problem with his employers sanctioning him for violating his contract (I'm a Red Sox fan - I really don't have a problem with this), I just didn't think he (or anyone else) should be prosecuted for gambling by the state.

Does this help the Rays?

They're 10 games back, it's August... but you live in Hillsborough county, so I'll say yes.
