The Serious Science of Psychology

See, even if this is a goof, it not only could be real, it probably is somewhere.  Some of the crazier people I've known studied psychology.

psych doesn't have to be pseudoscience. (although it is about experience, and 24 yrs old is probably not experienced enough, nor is her gimmick anything other than that)

for acute phases, a good, experienced therapist is a good thing.

a lousy one can mess you up and keep you coming for 20 years. or are a crutch for people who need one (think: Woody Allen's characters), but not for therapeutic reasons.

also, a ton of patients don't want to do the actual work behind their mental/physical health. that's where the real benefit comes :)

I think it's more of an art than a science, and, as you note, it has a lot to do with the willingness of the patient to change.

Some of the same charge can be leveled at medicine in general, but I think psychology has some inherent weaknesses that make it much, much worse in regards to the science.

Never heard of any psychiatrist getting naked for patients before, I note for the record.

true.

there are some validated evaluation instruments, and within the medical (psych), there are validated diagnoses.

granted, there are loony psychologists, or ones without experience, but for a crisis, a good phd or good social worker can help, and there is a method to their madness

but naked? you're right! wtf??

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
