That's what they'd have you believe, but why did he and all of his family have English accents? Huh?

Absolutely! I saw a documentary about some Soviet sub we stole, and the captain of the sub had a Scottish accent!

It always annoyed me that Captain "Picard" spoke with a British accent. His whole family did, too.

Also, I wonder if "Picard" was a play on "Pike" the original captain from the TOS pilot. Since Picard never went after any green babes, I'm guessing not.

Everyone. Even the kid. I mean, that can't be an accident. I think the show's "bible" must include a depopulation of France in the 22nd century, followed by a migration of English folk.

Did he ever speak French on the show?

Great for Stewart--and an earned recognition of his work (he's an accomplished stage actor in addition to his TV and film credits), but I don't know that I could ever accept an honor that required me to kneel before the living embodiment of the State.
